A Moment Missed

Every one has that one (or multiple) moment that they can recall with alarming clarity. That moment that you wish with every fibre of your being, down to the cells of your anatomy, that you had captured for posterity.
Sometimes it is a family moment, or one of your kids. Sometimes its a situation - a once in a lifetime, never to get back again first or last. Others it can be a feeling, that one point in the entire situation that perfectly portrayed that memory.
Mine seems to be a revolving desire to capture my son with my grandfather, his great grandfather. A way for him to have epic memories of how much love and respect and joy they share while playing. I have so many cell phone pictures of them making waffles from scratch together, teaching him to play a video game on a hand held console, playing cribbage and Mario checkers.
I am aware one of my regrets will be not capturing enough pictures. But let's be quite clear - my true regret is missing the moments experienced! As a photographer, one of the greatest blessings is our ability to capture these moments for everyone and help secure these feelings and emotion for their keepsakes. On the flip side of this, it also means we stop experiencing this moment ourselves in the great quest for saved memories for ourselves as well. This being the true reason I took a break to find some balance in my work and home life. To be able to experience the moments again without feeling guilty for not capturing them myself on a camera.

I have learned to delegate! (no easy task for me, trust!)
My point is I have someone else capture the moments for me so I can still recognize and remember the picture fondly with the feelings and the situation in tact, not with a lens between me and the happy memory.
This is what you hire us for! So you are free to experience and enjoy your memory and moments and events without worry or concern. I want you to be as fully invested in your life and your own memories as I am in capturing that beautiful, candid moment.
